Since having the bike for a few months, I can get everywhere faster and more conveniently, avoiding most traffic and parking headaches in my regular working life, easily dropping by the store and ferrying what I want to and from.

The bike was so easy to maneuver and the power from the battery made it effortless to ride. The small front wheel makes it easy to accelerate and the wide handlebar makes it easy to push. Oh, and the adjustability of the handlebar, stem, seat post and saddle can turn a fast riding to an upright Dutch riding style. Best of all, you can ride it without the pedal-assist on flat surfaces and it felt like a regular bike.

Here’s a quick picture of ‘lil blue loaded up to go to the bike coop for gear drop off followed by Chinese food pickup! I’ve put 40 miles on it so far and it’s as cool as promised and more. It fits my whole family though we might need to buy another one as I’m hogging this one!

We LOVE our CERO bikes! These bikes make rides easy and enjoyable for us retired older women. Last week we took them on the ferry to Victoria Canada and rode the Lochside Trail up to Sydney and back. Our bikes easily carried our overnight gear as well as whatever we needed to enjoy the ride….with bike energy to spare. And the bikes fit perfectly in our 6′ truck bed.

B.C. testimonial headshot wide
I’ve had a few other ebikes (Stromer, Elby, FOCUS) and the CERO is my favorite by far. It’s light and agile, but it also carries a ton of cargo. I opted to put the large basket on the front and I can use it to carry two bags of groceries home from the store.

FAQ

How far can I go on a single charge?

The battery range will vary depending on several factors: cargo loads, rider weight, assist mode, terrain, etc., but according to Shimano, you will get anywhere from 44 miles (high mode), to 62 miles (normal mode), and up to 93 miles (eco mode) of range. For more information, consult the Shimano STEPS technical site

How long does the battery take to charge?

2.5 hours for up to 80% and 5 hours for a 100% charge.

How do I charge the battery?

The bike comes with a charger that you can connect to any wall plug and you can either connect it directly to battery while mounted on the bike, or remove the battery and charge it inside your home.

How long can I expect the battery to last?

Shimano STEPS utilizes a long-life battery to maintain sufficient output, even after 1000 full charging cycles. It has been designed with year-round conditions in mind to exhibit the performance necessary in both the heat and the cold. After 1000 cycles, performance will decline but the battery will still be usable.

Can I buy extra batteries?

If you ever need to buy an extra battery, contact CERO for inquiries.

Can I accelerate via a throttle?

Our e-bikes are made specifically for pedaling, and do not have a throttle like a motorcycle. In some countries, a throttle is not allowed on electric assist bicycles.

Does the CERO One come in several sizes?

The CERO One is designed to accommodate both female and male riders of many sizes through seat and stem adjustments. We recommend the bike for riders between 5’2” and 6’4”

How can I adjust the stem?

Check out this handy video or contact us for help!

Can I ride in the rain?

Yes. Our bikes, battery and electric motor are designed to ride in the rain without any problem. Just remember to ride safely when it’s raining, and don’t dip it in water!

What is a mid drive motor?

A mid drive motor powers the crank of the bike directly, giving you a boost with each pedaling motion. The system features 3 sensors: speed, cadence and torque sensor, all working in conjunction to give you the most performance when you most need it. Additionally, the mid drive motor is located in the lowest point of the frame, ensuring a good center of gravity and great weight distribution for stable handling.

Do I need to pedal?

Yes! Our electric motor gives you a “pedal assist” that provides you with necessary push to ride faster and with less effort. Plus, since your legs are providing the propulsion, you have more control over the bike, which is especially important if you are carrying heavy loads. These type of bikes are sometimes referred to as “pedelecs” and the great news is that you’ll still get a nice workout as you pedal!

How fast does it go?

The motor will give you pedal assistance up to 20 mph, though technically you can achieve higher speeds on the bike

How much cargo can I carry on my CERO bike?

RECOMMENDED MAX CARGO LOADS

Individual Racks REAR: 55 lbs / 25 kg or FRONT: 55 lbs / 25 kg COMBINED Front and Rear Racks (55 lbs / 25 kg Rear + 22 lbs / 10 kg in Front) or (55 lbs / 25 kg Front + 22 lbs / 10 kg in Rear)

What about total weight on the bike?

MAXIMUM LOADS (RIDER WEIGHT + CARGO) NOT TO EXCEED 300 LBS

Failure to follow these limits could damage your bicycle and/or cause an accident and injuries to the rider.

Can I load cargo in the front and rear racks without a basket or platform?

Our front rack is specifically designed to work ONLY with an attached CERO platform or basket. Our rear rack, however, can carry cargo without any attached basket or platform.

Can I use any of your baskets on the rear and front racks?

Yes. Our Modular Cargo system was designed to allow you to use any of our baskets and platform either in the front or rear racks, allowing you to customize the bike to your cargo needs.

Can I use third-party basket on your racks?

Our custom baskets are designed to be used with our racks, and cannot accommodate third party baskets.

Can I put panniers on the rear rack?

Yes, we designed our rear rack to be compatible with most panniers. The rear rack’s side tubes are 14 mm in diameter, so your panniers will need to be compatible with that.

Can I put an axle-mounted trailer on the bike?

We have tested out Thule’s Chariot trailer on our bike and it fits great.

Can I transport a person on the front or rear racks?

No. The CERO One cargo areas are designed to carry cargo loads, but not people. Only carry a child up to 48 lbs (22kg) on a Thule Yepp Maxi child seat mounted on the rear rack.

Are your bikes compatible with child seats?

Our bike’s rear rack is designed to specifically fit the Thule Yepp Maxi Child Seats – without the need for any adapter.

Can I carry my bike on bike racks?

Yes. Your bike can be mounted on different available carrier systems. Make sure that the racks can sustain the weight of the CERO One.

How much does the bike weight?

Approximately 56 lbs with the battery mounted.

Does the bike have any lights?

Yes. The CERO One comes equipped with front and rear lights, which can be activated from the computer display on the handlebar.

Does the bike come with a lock?

Yes. An ABUS Frame lock attached to the seat stays comes standard, to give you confidence our keeping your bike secure. The bike’s battery is also locked, and for your convenience, the same key for your ABUS Frame Lock will work to remove and to lock the battery. NOTE: We always recommend using an additional chain, like the ABUS Chain Lock or u-lock to tie the bike to an unmovable place. Also, avoid leaving the bike out at night, and always try to leave it in a visible, public place.

Do I need a driver license or insurance to operate your bike?

No. Our electric cargo bikes are legally catalogued as regular bicycles, so neither a driver license or insurance are needed. We do, however, recommend always using a helmet!

I have seen e-bikes for as low as $500, why do CERO bikes cost more?

Quality of build and using durable components matter when making electric cargo bikes that can last longer, be more reliable, and have the warranty backing you deserve. At CERO we are proud to build our bikes with the highest quality materials and components, to give you the confidence you need. Additionally, there are many cheap electric motor systems for bikes in the market, but we pride ourselves in using the Shimano Steps system, so you can be sure of its dependability and durability. Battery technology is bound to become less expensive in the future, but for now cheaply priced electric bikes equal cheaply made products.

What is the ideal tire pressure?

The ideal tire pressure on your Big Ben Plus tires is 30-55 Psi. Always use a bicycle pump with a gauge to determine the ideal tire pressure.

Right now, we are expecting the bikes to arrive in August or September. Once the bikes are safely on land here in Los Angeles, they will be shipped out within a few days. We will notify you one to two weeks before the bikes will ship out.

Is my preorder refundable?

Yes – minus a processing fee. Your preorder is refundable up until the date the bike ships, minus a 5% processing fee to cover credit card fees. We will notify you one to two weeks in advance of shipping just in case you change your mind. Any bikes that have already shipped will be covered under our hassle-free return policy.

How does the preorder gift promotion work?

All CERO One preorders are eligible for a free ABUS Frame Lock Chain and 2-pack of Monkey Fingers Adjustable Bungees. To get these free gifts, simply add one of each to your cart on the same order as your CERO One. This promotion only applies to the ABUS Frame Lock Chain and 2-pack of Monkey Fingers Adjustable Bungees and it is only applicable to preorders. If you’d like additional Adjustable Bungees or Frame Lock Chains, please purchase those on a separate order so that your preorder gifts discounted correctly.
